Why they want it.

So,There is a series of novels turned films that young girls and women alike are consumed with. In turn it has birthed a young new Hollywood hunk to lust after. Much like blandly good looking young actors before him the lusting stems from this particular actor's role and the role of the character from the novel. But this time there are two elements of fraud. Not only is this young actor viewed as a fictional character, he's viewed as a fictional character that you could never find in real life even if you traveled the entire globe. Unlike some fictitious people that have issues with their fathers living vicariously through them. You could walk into any frat house and find at least one of those dudes. ( The Freddy Prince Jr. monstrosity)
This new young actor is portrayed as the undea
d... That's right a fucking vampire. This brings a whole new meaning to women living in la-la land.

Now, I never had the Un-pleasure of reading any of the novels although I WAS coaxed into seeing the first film of this series afte
r explaining to a girlfriend of mine that I'm not interested and would more likely then not want an hour and a half of my life back. Which by the end of the film I did. So then I went off of an "I told you so" rant to her explicating everything I hated about the film and she couldn't believe it, but she assured me the story gets deeper and I will enjoy the next film. And as much as I know I'm not going to enjoy it I will most likely feel compelled to watch it. I will enjoy disliking it.

If you happen to live under a rock and don't know what I'm carrying on like a lunatic about I'll say it right now. It's Twilight
. But the purpose of this piece isn't REALLY to bash on Twilight although I could do that for hours. It's mostly to touch on my views about fantasy.

I consider myself (like most women) to have a healthy sexual desire with my own variety of unusual fantasies. This fantasy about the blood su
ckers however is not only sexual ( now I'm sure these girls use this fantasy with the doors closed in their bedrooms) but they incorporate it into their everyday lives. Now, I assume it has some things to do with eternal love aspect. My aforementioned girlfriend says it's because she likes "goth" and dark type things in general. ( Go to hot topic)..Man I hate hot topic goth kids -Don't get me started-.... ANYWAY, She says it's also because the vampire dude (who looks more like an alien) has a sort of "selfless"Love for his female counterpart. -and I put selfless in quotations because she uses this word A LOT to describe the kind of love she wants- So this is what tells me it's more of an emotional fantasy then a sexual one.
So why the fucking vampires? Have women been denied their emotional needs so long that they turn it into the unreachable? Has Endless "selfless" love been grouped in with Vampires, leprechauns, and unicorns in the
fantasy world, forever to be dreamed of and never seen? Is it all one big coping mechanism? And if it is. Have we done it to ourselves?Romance novels and films that DON'T have vampires, dragons, witches or whatever have you depending on the story Still depict a sort of love that only happens in the first few months of a steamy love affair. You never hear a great romance story entitled "After they got to know as much as you can know about another person-- The children years. " Now I know some of you are saying, What About the notebook (2004)? ( witch I'm pretty sure was also a novel first) Yes, Okay. That film truly does have the Eternal love notion. As the two main characters drift away to the afterlife (or whatever) in their sleep after you get to hear their life story summed up in an hour. But that's just it. It was SUMMED up. Their Love was summed up. Not their life together. Not once did it show the female getting angry at the man for leaving his socks out and him rolling his eyes at her because he hears it too much with her replying back with. "How hard is it to listen to me the first time I tell you that bothers me" And I'll tell you way you didn't see that, because that is not the point of the romance in that film, but clearly these old farts have been together since the dawn of time It would have been impossible for them not to fight like that and have those fights lead into something bigger. A female always want to feel the way she does when she watches these films in her real everyday life. You can't feel like that everyday.

Now, My girlfriend didn't just say she was fascinated with "selfless" Love thing, she also said she liked dark things in general, remember? Okay, so darkness.. Darkness does not just exist in the fantasy realm, and not to sound like those hot topic kids who I clearly dislike, but.. "Darkness is everywhere man"- really though.- The darkness that exists in every humans head is a hell of a lot more disturbing then some bi-curious looking vampire dude. Although I'm sure the appeal of this particular vampire is that he is on the good side of evil. He's a vampire, and he can't help that but he chooses to be a pretty good fella'... So using the real darkness or evil that exists the closest thing you could get to that scenario is a man who is desperately in love with you that has a delusional personalty disorder where he believes that there is an evil inside of him that he can't get rid of but can control. No woman really wants that, but I could be wrong. Most women DO what everything to be intense and dramatic.

I might be one of the few females who will actually say this, But men I believe you are right. Women don't know what they want.. Or better yet why they want it.
